Usyk Won the Fight. Rico Won the Night.

On May 23rd, beneath the pyramids of Giza, I stepped into the ring with one of the greatest boxers of this generation. Oleksandr Usyk got the official victory. Respect to him for that.

But when I look back at that night, I don’t see defeat. I see proof. Proof that courage still matters in combat sports. Proof that people still connect to heart, risk and belief. Proof that stepping outside your comfort zone at the highest possible level can inspire the world. For months, many questioned whether I belonged in that ring. They said the challenge was too big. Too dangerous. Too unrealistic. But from the opening bell until the very final seconds, I showed exactly why I took this fight. Not to survive. To win. And that’s exactly what I came to do.

The ending will be debated for a long time. I truly believed I was still in the fight and fully capable of continuing. Seeing the global reaction afterwards only confirmed that millions of people around the world felt the same way. Still, I don’t want this moment to become about controversy. This night became bigger than a result. The atmosphere. The stage. The energy. The support from fans all over the world. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.
I also feel a deep sense of gratitude towards His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, whose vision and belief helped create a moment that captured global attention far beyond boxing alone. The scale and ambition behind this event were truly unique.

The same goes for Jason Statham, who played an important role throughout the journey towards making this fight happen. Having people around you who genuinely believe in the magnitude of an opportunity like this means more than most people realise. To my team, my family, my supporters and everyone who believed in me: thank you. And to Oleksandr Usyk, respect. Champions understand what it means to take risks and make history.

What happened in Giza did not close a chapter for me. It opened a new one. Because if this fight showed the world anything, it’s that there is still a story left to tell. And deep down, I think everybody knows it.
